HUARPE / GUAYQUIL

This series is inspired in the Huarpes, a pre-Columbian civilization that originally inhabited Mendoza.

They designed a unique irrigation system that transformed Mendoza´s barren landscape into an oasis endowed for outstanding viticulture. Huarpe Terroir Series expresses the vigor and diversity of Mendoza´s soils.

AGRELO TERROIR

Location: Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza
Winemaker: José Hernández Toso

Composition: 80% Malbec (quarter N°1/2 own selection) and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon (quarter N°5B with 169)
Vineyard: 20 years of age, high density (5.560 plants/ha). Rootstock Franco.
Altitude: 980 m.a.s.l.
Soil: Sandy-loamy-clay, of alluvial origin and with great content of calcium carbonate.
Aging: 14 months in French oak barrels
Cellaring potential: 15 years

Alcohol: 14,85% vol / PH: 3,76 / Sugar: 3,17 g/l

Tasting notes: It has a garnet red color with dark hues. It evokes aromas of black fruits and the spiciness characteristic of Cabernet Sauvignon. In the mouth it is subtly buttery and its tannins are firm and elegant. With a balanced acidity, it has a harmonious and frank ending.

VISTA FLORES TERROIR

Location: Vista Flores, Tunuyán, Mendoza
Winemaker: José Hernández Toso

Composition: 65% Bonarda – 35% Petit Verdot
Altitude: 1100 m.a.s.l.
Soil: Alluvial origin, Sandy-loam texture interwoven with boulders. They are poor in organic matter and have excellent drainage.
Aging: 14 months in French oak barrels
Cellaring potential: 15 years

Alcohol: 14,2% vol / AT: 5,2 g/l / PH: 3,77 / Sugar: 2,3 g/l

Tasting notes: A bold and vibrant blend, deep purple in color. The exuberance of Petit Verdot reveals flavors of black cherry, sage and plum. Bonarda brings freshness and a balanced acidity. The blend of both varietals creates an elegant wine, with great aromatic potential. Its aging of 14 months gives it a velvety and persistent end of great character.

GUALTALLARY TERROIR

Location: Gualtallary, Tupungato, Mendoza
Winemaker: José Hernández Toso

Composition: 50% Cabernet Franc (quarter N°10 clone 212) – 50% Cabernet Sauvignon (quarter N°7 clone 169) from our Finca Las Divas.

Altitude: 1350 m.a.s.l.
Soil: Alluvial origin, Sandy-loam texture interwoven with boulders coming from the descent of the Las Tunas river. They are poor in organic matter and have excellent drainage. Thus, the vineyard explores the deepest layers of the soil and settles pronounced roots.
Aging: 14 months in 300 lts French oak barrels
Cellaring potential: 15 years

Alcohol: 14,7% vol / AT: 5,8 g/l / PH: 3,75 / Sugar: 2,3 g/l

Tasting notes: It is a deep purple red wine, of great intensity and opulence. It presents a fascinating range of aromas and flavors: touches of menthol, elder, gravel, blackberry and smokiness. In the mouth it is structured, with a strong tannic vigor and balanced acidity. The strength of Gualtallary’s soil translates into an exquisite and energetic end.

GUAYQUIL

Location: Agrelo, Luján de Cuyo y Gualtallary, Tupungato. Mendoza.

Composition: 40% Malbec – 35% Cabernet Sauvignon 10% Petit Verdot – 10% Tannat – 5% Bonarda
Altitude: 980 m.a.s.l.
Soils: Agrelo: Sandy-loamy-clay, of alluvial origin and with great content of calcium carbonate.
Gualtallary: Alluvial origin, Sandy-loam texture interwoven with boulders coming from the descent of the Las Tunas river. They are poor in organic matter and have excellent drainage. Thus, the vineyard explores the deepest layers of the soil and settles pronounced roots.
Aging: 24 months 500 lts French oak barrels
Cellaring potential: 15 years

Alcohol: 14,9 % Vol. / AT: 5,6 g/l / PH: 3,7 / Sugar: 2,7 g/l

Tasting notes: Guayquil is a deep red wine. Its elegant nose reveals aromas of red fruits such as currant, as well as coffee and tobacco due to its passage through French oak barrels. It is a blend of silky texture, its tannins are round and its structure opulent. After resting, it displays an interesting aromatic complexity. Its end is persistent and evocative.
