Agrelo is internationally recognized as one of Mendoza’s great winegrowing regions. It is the birthplace of opulent, aromatically complex wines. Located at the foot of the Andes Mountains, Agrelo is part of the Luján de Cuyo department.
Our vineyard is located at 950 meters (3,117 feet) above sea level. At this altitude, sunlight is more intense, and the grapes ripen during warm days followed by notably cooler nights. This pronounced diurnal temperature variation is one of the region’s defining characteristics: it extends the ripening process and helps maintain balanced acidity.
The soils have a high clay content. This type of soil retains water effectively, supporting the vines during periods of drought. It also promotes slow, steady grape ripening. Through drip irrigation, we are able to control vine vigor and yields, resulting in small berries with excellent concentration of sugars, acids, and tannins.
The grape varieties planted in Agrelo are Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, and Tannat.
Finca Las Divas
Gualtallary, Tupungato, Valle de Uco
Located at 1,350 meters (4,429 feet) above sea level, Finca Las Divas spans 72 hectares, 40 of which are planted with Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Sauvignon Blanc. Strongly influenced by the cool, dry climate of the Andes, the vineyard features alluvial soils with a sandy-loam texture interspersed with rounded river stones carried by the Las Tunas River. Low in organic matter yet exceptionally well-drained, these soils encourage the vines to send their roots deep into the ground in search of nutrients and greater complexity.
Gualtallary is one of Mendoza’s most outstanding winegrowing terroirs. Its pronounced diurnal temperature variation, high altitude, and intense sunlight allow the grapes to develop thicker skins and concentrated aromas. The natural acidity brings elegance, freshness, and aging potential to our wines.
Finca Las Divas also pays tribute to legendary women of art and entertainment, including Marilyn Monroe and Édith Piaf. Among our varietals, Malbec honors iconic Argentine tango divas such as Tita Merello and Che Papusa. The name reflects their character, high standards, and unique personalities—qualities we also find in our grapes. We were also pioneers in planting Cabernet Franc in this region, making it one of our signature varietals.
JOSÉ HERNANDEZ TOSO
José is Co-Founder and Director of Winemaking at Huarpe Riglos. His international career took him to Italy, where he worked as Head Winemaker at J. Hofstätter in Alto Adige. He also served as Winemaker at Graf Adelmann in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, where he was also an Associate Researcher at the Weinsberg Wine Institute.
José graduated in Viticulture and Oenology from the Heilbronn Institute in Germany and completed advanced training programs at the Weinsberg Institute and the Scuola del Vino, building a strong and distinguished academic and professional background.
His first harvest took place at the age of 17 at the historic Toso family winery. Since then, José has continued exploring the diverse terroirs of Mendoza, convinced of their ability to produce elegant, fresh, and well-balanced wines. As he puts it: “Every vintage is unique and an exciting challenge for the entire team. Making wine is a lifelong endeavor.”
